CAMP NEWSPAPER
INTRODUCTION During the rainy days of the camp, some participants came together to publish a small camp newspaper fixed on the walls of our dormitory building. On this page you can find some of the articles that survived the wet weather...
WEATHER FORECAST Today we will, once again, have humid weather. Clothes will stick to your skin, even if you did not move at all. The sky will be slightly covered by "Ireland-shaped" clouds. But fortunately it will still be hot and sunny! Temperatures will range between 35.1 C and 47.3 C, depending on who is sitting next to you. It will not really get any cooler in the shadow - if you can find any at all! But little European winds might cause a soft warm breeze.Heavy downpour of mosquitoes in the evening may disturb the enthusiastic game players under the streetlights. Rain might come down later in the night and continue to the morning. Due to that your clothes will not get any dryer nor will you be able to plant trees that day. We will probably not have any blue sky for days but only one glance at Ypie's eyes should be a sufficient substitute for that.
LIFE AT SHANDONG UNITED UNIVERSITY: A STUDENT'S VIEW "The university was established in the 1999 by Changcheng Industry and Commerce Group (CICG)". The first year 129 people entered, of which she was one, however now there are 1500 students. This year even more students enrolled. Even though the University was opened only one year ago there are many good reasons to study there. It has a very good physical environment and the most advanced educational equipment such as a phonetical laboratory. Regarding the leisure time, student most of the time talk about the current events in newspapers and their studies as well. Some like playing basketball while many like reading books in their rooms or even writing letters to friends. About the international youth camp the interviewed girl said "it is good fun for us (SUU) to be the host, as we get a chance to practice our English". Importantly she put an emphasis on the fact that "environmental protection is a must for us today, particularly planting trees since there was the devastating and tragic flood in 1988 that caused over 3000 people to die".
EXCITING MORNING FOR ROOM NUMBER 29 We strongly believe that nobody wants to get up before 7 o'clock in the morning, however 2 of us had to, Patricia and Fon (room number 29). Many of you may have heard about this. It was about 5 a.m. when the water came back on after being shut down. While Fon and Patricia were happily asleep, they started to hear the noise of running water in their bathroom. They did not expect what would happen next; but that happened: when Fon got into the bathroom, she saw the water coming up from the pipeline so she called a maid to solve the problem and woke Patricia up. Unfortunately the maid could not do anything so they decided to pack their luggage and wait to change into a new room. However, while Patricia stayed alone inside, it gradually started flooding in the bathroom and then the bedroom, and it wasn't only water!! Consequently, they had to move all their luggage as quickly as possible before they were flooded. Finally they succeeded and then, the room was completely flooded! So exciting? Of course! Also AWFYLLY STINKY AND FORGETTABLE!
FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH CHINESE TOILETS It was a big walk down Mount Tai, when at some point I really needed to use the bathroom. I was not expecting much of course from a public toilet, until I saw that in front of these toilets there was a person asking for 1 Yuan to let me in. So I gave him the money and walked in. The first thing that stroke me was the smell: pure urine, with not even a small try to cover it! I kept on walking, wanting to believe that this was the worst part of it. I was simply so happy to get out!
